Securing our car yard after hours

Our car yard contains nearly all of our business assets so when we have vandals break in and create havoc with our cars, our whole business suffers. A lot of the time it's just teenagers causing trouble so it's important to make sure our security is visible and a little scary to them to try and convince them to move on. We use a combination of locks and chains, security dogs and big signs talking about the cameras we have in the yard. This blog is all about having a good security plan for your business when you're not there.

Security Screen Doors: Are They Merely Security Additions?

When many homeowners are installing security screen doors, only one thing is usually at the top of their minds: the security of their homes. Over the years, these security products have proven to be highly effective at thwarting burglary attempts on residential property. But is improved security the only thing that you gain by investing in security screen doors? Surely not. Here is a look at some other benefits you stand to reap by installing these doors in your home.

Pest resistance

Usually when you are installing doors in your home, you only think about keeping intruders out. You rarely give any thought to small intruders like mosquitoes, flies, rats and other pests that can fly or crawl into your home even when the doors are locked. That's an issue that manufacturers of security screen doors keep in mind when they are designing their products. They know that having pests in your home is a nuisance, and therefore may integrate bug tight screens into your security doors. This way, both flying and crawling pests will be unable to gain access to your living space.

Aesthetics

The fact that security is a priority for you does not mean the beauty of your home should be overlooked. Security screen doors are available in a wide selection of styles, colours and finishes to give your home a majestic look you can take pride in. With the right selection, you can get doors that seamlessly complement the overall aesthetics of your entire property. The beauty of your screen doors will not go unnoticed, especially since all your visitors must make their way inside through the doors. Besides that, security doors are generally installed on the outside where everyone can see, even the passers-by in the nearby street, hopefully improving your kerb appeal.

Energy efficiency

Doors are one of the most significant points of heat gain or loss in any home. Today's exterior door manufacturers know this, and those making security screen doors are no exception. Makers of modern security screen doors use highly energy efficient materials like glass in the construction process. Before offering their products for sale, they make sure to test for heat flow, solar radiation, air leakage and several other parameters required to determine the overall level of energy performance. Any installation that can help cut your energy bills is definitely a welcome feature in your home. Security screen doors can be one such feature.
