Securing our car yard after hours

Our car yard contains nearly all of our business assets so when we have vandals break in and create havoc with our cars, our whole business suffers. A lot of the time it's just teenagers causing trouble so it's important to make sure our security is visible and a little scary to them to try and convince them to move on. We use a combination of locks and chains, security dogs and big signs talking about the cameras we have in the yard. This blog is all about having a good security plan for your business when you're not there.

Why Outdoor Blinds Would Be a Great Addition to Your Patio

Having an exterior living space is not simply about putting out some chairs and thinking it now ready for entertaining. There is some effort that should go into decorating it as well as making it functional so that it can accommodate you and your guests all year round. One of the accessories that you could consider for this space is outdoor blinds. Some people tend to assume that the installation of outdoor blinds is purely to inject some personality in their exterior space. The truth is that these blinds offer much more functionality than simply being aesthetically appealing. Here are some reasons why outdoor blinds would be a great addition to your patio.

Outdoor blinds protect your patio furnishings

One of the things that you would have to contend with when you have an exterior living space is exposure to the elements. Some homeowners will take measures to protect this space from wet conditions, but will not really consider the damage that could happen to their furnishings with prolonged exposure to the sun. Direct penetration of the sun's rays to your patio means exposure to ultraviolet radiation. These UV rays will then begin to prematurely age your furniture, upholstery and even carpeting by making their colours fade. If you would like to keep these UV rays out, then it would be advisable to invest in outdoor blinds.

The blinds will block the ultraviolet rays from penetrating into your patio. They will also reduce the amount of radiant heat that is penetrating your exterior living space. Which means a decrease on your reliance on artificial cooling, especially during the warmer months.

Outdoor blinds give a sense of privacy

If your patio is wide open, chances are you cannot have any private moments on it without prying eyes ether from the interior of the home or from your neighbours. This is especially true if your patio faces the street and can be viewed by all passersby. If you would like to keep the prying eyes of onlookers away, then you should consider installing outdoor blinds.

You can fit these blinds in an array of materials, thus ensuring that you have full control on the amount of privacy that you want. It should also be noted that by making your patio more private, it also gives a sense of enhanced security. If people cannot look into your patio, chances are they will also perceive your home as being secured.
